Conference Fee Sponsorship of PhD students from OECD linked (developing) countries

WALS has set aside some funds to be bear the cost of the registration fee for up to 5 PhD student presenters at WALS Conference 2017. Kindly note the following:

  1. This funding is available only to PhD student presenters and capped at a maximum number of 5.
  2. Sponsorship will only be given to those from OECD linked (Developing) countries.
  3. The sponsorship is not available to students who had received sponsorship at previous WALS Conferences.
  4. Only those who have had a paper already accepted for presentation at WALS 2017 Conference may apply. Please attach the abstract of your presentation together with your application.
  5. The sponsorship is only for the registration fee at the early bird rate. Optional events such as the social dinner and school visit will not be covered.
  6. The panel’s decision on the sponsorship awardees is final.

If you wish to apply for this funding, kindly fill in the form here no later than 1200 hours (Singapore time) on 17th November 2017. Applications sent after this deadline will not be considered.

The World Association of Lesson Studies (WALS) aims to promote and advance the research and practices focused on Lesson Studies in order to improve the quality of teaching and learning. It provides a platform for research collaboration, mutual assistance and information exchange among its members. It is made up of educational researchers and teaching professionals committed to the improvement of the quality of learning.

Lesson Study as a tool for professional learning is now practised in many countries and it has helped schools around the world develop into learning communities. Our annual conferences bring together researchers, school leaders and teachers from various countries to share their experience and practice of lesson studies. They also provide opportunities for participants to discuss current and enduring issues pertaining to teaching, learning and research on Lesson Study.

The International Journal for Lesson and Learning Studies (IJLLS) publishes lesson and learning studies that are pedagogically aimed at improving the quality of teaching and learning in formal educational settings. These may take the form of action research, design experiments, formative evaluations or pedagogical research more generally that is designed to foster a democratic, discursive and action oriented inquiry process. The journal is particularly interested in publishing lesson and learning studies that are collaboratively constructed and dialogically forged with teachers and their students.
